Description

Detzem – On the old “Roman Wine Route”, distances were measured in miles. However, the unit of measurement was not the Roman mile, but the Celtic competition, which in turn corresponded to 2.2 kilometres. So it is easy to calculate that about 20 kilometers from Trier there was the tenth mile, the Latin “ad decimum lapidem”, which then became Detzem for the sake of a faster pronunciation. Detzem was still mentioned in documents as a Franconian royal court before it was acquired by the wealthy Abbey of St. Maximin from Trier. The late Gothic choir and sacristy of today’s parish church “St. Agritius” (built in 1735/36) and parts of the Maximiner Hof date from this time. Around the historic community centre, a former inn from the 19th century, the Detzem Riesling Festival takes place every year on the first weekend in August (with public wine tasting in the Kaisersaal). Since the canalization of the Moselle, the second Moselle weir on German soil has been located in Detzem. The replica of the 10th stage destination is located in the center of the village. The destination of a short hike, which is worthwhile, is the “Five Lakes View” with a 30 m high observation tower, from which five sections of the Moselle can be seen. The vineyards of Detzem are called Maximiner Klosterlay and Würzgarten.

Classification:

Basement: partly basement.

Ground floor: kitchen with stairs, living room, dining room, study area, bathroom with shower, toilet and sink, garage.

First floor: landing, 2 bedrooms, office and storage room

Attic: large, partially finished rooms.

General: This so-called wide-gabled house from the late 1800s is an ideal holiday home for someone who does not set too high standards and loves a bit of nostalgia. The sales price was therefore adjusted accordingly. The house is heated by a combination of so-called electric night storage heaters (asbestos-free) and a wood stove. The wooden windows are single-glazed. Important things, such as a good shower, a kitchen and a good night’s sleep are available. The roof is in good condition and the large garage has enough space for a car and bicycles. Above the garage and on the first floor, they have already started to create new rooms that you can continue working on after the purchase. The beautiful Moselle is about 110mtr. of the house. Come and check out this unique home.
