The small wine village Briedel fascinates with its many half-timbered houses. Other attractions that are worth a visit are the Himmeroder Hof, the former town hall from 1615 and the baroque St. Martin Church of 1800. Special features of this church are the beautiful ceiling paintings, and the organ of the famous organ builder Stumm. From the forecourt of the church you have a fascinating view of the Eulenturm; a part of the east wall and a round tower from the year 1400. In the center of the village a pretty fountain with its motives tells the story of the famous Briedel wine. Briedel is a must-see village located right by the Moselle. It is a romantic village with narrow streets, beautiful shops that invite you to explore it by walking. Briedel with its “Briedeler Switzerland” is a romantic hiking area with rocks, marvellous views and well-marked hiking trails.
A ferry connects Briedel with its vineyards on the other side of the Moselle. Briedel is well known for its good wine which has been made with passion. The fields of vineyards which were made with great commitment and with love to the detail cover about 160 hectares which includes about 70% Riesling.
In August the wineries celebrate the wine festival and entertain with a sporting dragon boat race, with many spectators. At the end of August / beginning of September Briedel invites to a visit to its yearly Street-wine-festival.
