Kövenig is a small wine town on the Middle Moselle with around 170 inhabitants. The historic wine village of Enkirch is located exactly on the other side of the Moselle and can be reached by ferry. Kövenig lies slightly above the Moselle at an altitude of about 106 meters, with Mont Royal 200 meters higher on the west side, where the lower part of the mountain wall is used for wine growing and the upper part is covered with forest. There is a small airport for sports aircraft and gliders at Mont Royal. There is a train station in town on the regional train connection from Bullay main station to Traben-Trarbach.
